Two things I just noticed about my Boss (or boss's boss)
1) Feedback is good. Sending out thoughtful little emails thanking even the roughest employee not only makes you look good, but can also help keep everyone feeling appreciated.
2) Make sure you use the correct form of a word. Saying "and ensuring are processes are efficient" isn't the same as OUR processes
Still...it's the thought that counts, and the diligence to go back and proof read every email to make sure what you have in writing is correct.

Flying Bird!
A bird just flew over my cube. Not kidding. Somehow this poor little bird made his way into the building, up the elevators (or maybe the stairs) and all the way down the hall and into out offices! A woman in the cube next to me came scurrying down the hall saying "theres a bird in my cube!" and sure enough there was.
Poor little bugger, everyone was trying to trap him and he wasn't having any of that so he took off across the room and smacked straight into the glass above our boss's window. Apparently he was bleeding from his beak. Finally maintence came and scooped him up in a rag/trashcan combo and took the poor baby away.
Send out a little prayer because I'm sure mainteince is not going to take the trip to the vet to get him fixed or at least to him put to sleep properly.
RIP Office Bird

I Want to be a Teacher
I read an article on Cnn.com about a school for young black men in Chicago. It really reminded me of what I really want to do in my life: Teach. Not just rich white kids with all the advantages at their fingertips, but urban kids. Kids who have seen many more horrible things by the time they enter the 4th grade than I probably (hopefully) will see in my entire life.
I went to a private school that taught me how to learn and grow from other people. The school was great, but the people there were all the same...white, upper middle class, drove mercades, audis, and the ever popular honda civics. Everyone either got or got to use a car when they turned 16. They were all just like me.
I got bored.
I made other friends, friends that usually didn't end up graduating but hopefully went on to get their GEDs. These friends taught me a lot about a life that many many people lead. I want to be able to change the path of a kid's life. To be able to show them there is more outside the hood. A lot more.

What Every Good Over-Tired Worker Needs...Coffee
So I've decided that I am going to collect coffee mugs from each company I work (or intern) for. Which is two.
At most offices they have these neat little coffees dispensers which spit out pipping hot, cheap, ready-made coffee in any willing mug. With everyone "going green" these days, this perticular office has a bring-your-own-mug mentality. Which is great, but I don't own a mug. Being 20 years-old I have yet to discover my fondness for this beverage. However, the jolt of caffine it gives is usually enough to make me the small grimace when I sip (slurp).
This morning I made the big adventure down to the gift shop, which boasts everything "company" and spent $7.50 on a brightly colored (and rather heavy) mug.
As I sit here in my spacious cube, after waiting the 20 minute cool down time it takes me to be able to even spit a hot drink, I can already feel the caffine coursing through my sleepy little veins. Ahhh
